Pallet Stackers

A pallet stacker is a variety of pallet jack that is used to transfer, stack and lift palletized merchandise that are overly arduous for manual lifting. Its main function is to load and unload pallets on trucks, and also transferring pallets to and from a variety of locations within a storeroom space or stockroom. On the whole pallet jacks are manufactured of heavy duty materials to endure extreme weights. Pallet stackers are occasionally referred to as pallet jacks. They can be operated from a seated, upright or walk-behind position. Pallet jacks are separated into manual and powered types.

Pallet stackers are generally comprised of a pair of forks that are capable of sliding beneath a pallet, capable of lifting to a preferred height or moving it to a specific location. The engine section or casing houses the gas-run, electronic or hydraulic equipment that powers the piece of equipment.

Manual pallet jacks are hand-powered. They function hydraulically to make lifting burdensome pallets an easier job. Commonly a walk-behind model meaning they are utilized by pulling and pushing the jack to its preferred location. Utilizing a foot pedal or handle raises the stacker’s forks. Squeezing a lever or trigger returns the forks to the floor. These models of pallet jacks are ideal for lighter loads of up to approximately 1 ton or 907.18 kg.

Electric or gas powered pallet jacks can accommodate extreme lifting weights of up to 5 tons or 4535.92 kg. They are physically less demanding than the manual versions due to the mechanized power to raise and let down the stacker’s forks. These versions are steered by turning the handle in a specific direction. There is a button on the handle that functions to lift and lower the forks. A throttle found on the stacker’s handle moves the appliance forward and in reverse. This style of equipment is generally known as a lift truck and is used from a sit-down position.

As the fork width, weight maximum and lift peak vary dramatically between specific models, picking the correct pallet jack to suit the activity is essential. Some stacker’s lift peak may allow multiple pallets to be stacked, while others may only tolerate two at a time. Certain types of these lift trucks feature an adjustable fork in order to allow the stacker to slide underneath pallets of different sizes and shapes. These versions are helpful when a mixture of kinds of pallets are used within a workspace.
